Disaster befalls us in 1365. Our clan leader dies of old age. Not only does this deprive us of his valuable services but since he is also the king of our tribe, this means a new tribal moot will be called to elect a new king. Of course, we immediately elevate another worshipper of Orlanth to the position of clan ring leader, but our new candidate is significantly less skilled in many matters. Indeed, we encounter great difficulty in persuading the other clans in our tribe to accept him as tribal king and finally the clans choose Swen of the Blackrock clan as the new tribal king. We can only console ourselves with the fact that we will have a much easier time elevating one of our own candidates the next time we need a new king and that according to the prophecy, we still have around 15 years until the time comes to form a kingdom.

Meanwhile we continue to deal with the usual assortment of problems, including a spirit that comes to infest our tula and a persistent feud between a family in our clan and that in the Apple clan. Our explorers discover a land inhabited by the beastfolk far to the west and are forced to promise not to intrude further into the area. On the brighter side, we also encounter the Horse-Spawn to the west and manage a couple of successful raids against them, once to free some of the thralls they are holding captive and a second time to steal away from them a magnificent horse.

Our current clan leader Tornalang, a great warrior who has led many of our exploration parties. At age 54, he is not young but he should hopefully live long enough to see through the events of the prophecy. Since he is not as skilled in other areas, we make efforts to improve his abilities in other areas, in particular through the Making of the Storm Tribe heroquest to improve his leadership skills.

We undergo many other trials over the next few years, but as we no longer hold the tribal kingship, these are clan matters only. These events include adopting a child and her mother who had been living in the woods, playing host to a strange people who come with horses that seem too small to ride and claim to be seeking the birthplace of Orlanth. We also receive priests of Lhankor Mhy who wish to adopt a child from our clan saying that this child will one day be a great hero of the Knowing God. We accede to this request in exchange for a gift of magic.

Then in 1374, two strange men visit our tula. They say that it is a pity that we don’t hold the tribal kingship and offer to sell us a potion to remedy our ill fortune. Some in the clan say that they are charlatans but we pay for the potion and Tonalang, our clan leader, drinks it. Sure enough not long after that, Swen, who holds the kingship, voluntarily steps down due to his addled wits. This time we spare no expense and manage to manoeuvre  Tonalang into the key position of power. It helps immensely that Tonalang skills have grown immeasurably in the preceding few years, making him a great leader as well as formidable warrior.

Following this the two strange men return and reveal that they are shaman and that in return for our generosity they asked the surrounding spirits to aid us. Once again, we have no idea how much of this is true, but we err on the side of caution and gift them generously. At around the same time, our explorers encounter a spirit called Tarard Riel. The spirit agrees to stay in our tula and provided that we sacrifice to it, it helps us keep watch for intruders and raiders.

Finally in 1375, we receive a very surprising visit. Throughout our entire stay in Dragon Pass, we have been constantly raided by the Horse Spawn. Now an emissary of theirs come to inform us of a change in leadership within their ranks and that the Feathered Horse Queen is now their leader. She wants to mend their relationship with the Orlanthi clans of Dragon Pass. We are sceptical but this could be the key towards uniting the tribes and so offer her one of our treasures as a sign of goodwill. Our weaponthanes are upset, saying that we have given a valuable treasure to the enemy so we will have to find some way of appeasing them.
