The next two years are bad ones for our clan. We are constantly raided and take many losses. We lose additional men in our own raiding attempts. It even comes to the point where the women of the tula, upset with all the dead husbands, worry about the future of the clan and the lack of men. The clan ring decides to hold a Marriage Contest to attract some of the more promising young men from other clans to repopulate our ranks. Fortunately the trouble does not go out of hand as our successes with heroquesting maintains our morale and our wealth allows us to buy our way out of many troubles.

Other events are more promising. Derik Single-Path, whose family was killed by Praxians and who we allowed to mount a raid against them, says that he is leaving the clan in order to pursue his long-terms quest for vengeance against his enemy. We wish him well on his hero’s journey and offer sacrifices to the gods such that they will protect him. Thadart’s story, the warrior who looks like a Tusk Raider, also seemingly draws to a close. A large force of Tusk Raiders approach our tula. Some in our clan accuse Thadart of being a traitor, saying that he drew them here. However, we believed in him and sent him with our weaponthanes to assault the incoming raiders. He fought heroically, defeating the enemy and quelling any doubts once and for all that he is a loyal member of our clan.

In 1358, Saraska Bright-Eyes, the young woman who claimed that she would be the one to unite the tribes of Dragon Pass returns to our tula. To our shock, she is accompanied by Dalymar, King of the Colymar tribe, the oldest and still most powerful of the tribes. She claims that she has persuaded Dalymar of the justness of her cause and offers us another chance to join her. However we see that Dalymar is greedy for power himself and will push her aside once the tribes are united. So once again we rebuff her politely and wait to see what happens.

Indeed later that year, an Ernalda priestess of the Colymar, hoping to avert bloodshed on a massive scale unheard of before in Dragon Pass, comes to warn us that Saraska and the Colymar intends to attack us, convinced that they will unite the dissenting tribes, us included, through conquest. We send an emissary to the Colymar to say that we are aware of the plan, hoping the Colymar king will come to his senses. But he scoffs at us, apparently believing that they will win.

The inevitable battles takes place later that year. Fortunately we have many weaponthanes, each empowered by many blessings and our combined forces charge the Colymar. One of the members on our clan ring, Fantarl, personally smashed his way through to Saraska and crushed her head on a boulder, proving that she was not the prophesied one after all. Upon seeing that, the rest of the Colymar forces lost heart and fled the battlefield.

The next year proves only slightly quieter. Our explorers range far to the northwest and makes contact with Orlanthi peoples living in a land called Tarsh. In an admittedly risky bid to further enhance our prestige, we also sacrifice to our ancestors to perform the Summons of Evil ritual. This summons the ancestral enemy of a clan so that it may confront and hopefully defeat it. In our case, the ancestral enemy are the elves. Some of our peasants are attacked from afar by unseen enemies with arrows and we offer sacrifices to Orlanth to protect us. We are reluctant to venture in the woods to fight the elusive elves so it remains to be seen what will happen.

Finally in 1360, sorcerers who appear to be servants of the Pharoah come to our tula. They say that they are seeking the Six Brothers, the Orlanthi people who fled from Heortland and to whom we offered hospitality until they settled in lands to our east. Since we would never betray fellow Orlanthi for servants of the Pharoah we attack and kill these sorcerers. They carry strange sorcerous implements which makes a humming noise. We have no idea what they do but we choose to keep them for now.

Hello! I like your AAR and King of Dragon Pass is a great game, so keep it up!
I have a question though… did you manage to make the game fullscreen? The fact that I had to put up with a very low resolution was my only issue with this otherwise addicting game.

I’ve had no problems running it full screen under Windows 7. Starting the game does cause Windows to switch to a low resolution mode.

After playing this game for a while, I’m not sure that it’s that addicting. I think you’re practically guaranteed to see every event at least once in a Long Game, so it seems like there is little need to play through the game a second time once you’ve finished it.
