New year, new Thadart problems, who, once again, is the warrior who was turned into a Tusk Raider. His wife has given birth to a baby who unfortunately looks like a Tusk Raider as well. The entire tula is in an uproar over this. We try to conduct a ritual to ensure that future children by the couple won’t look similar but the portents do not look auspicious. We are resigned to having more Thadart problems in the future.

Fortunately our efforts on the diplomatic front are easier to solve. The Estarelder tribe actually approaches us about making an alliance and we are able to convince their leader to join with us by appealing to her devotion to Ernalda. At the same time, we expend considerable effort in performing heroquests, though no more than one per year. Our clan ring advisers do warn that we should probably allow at a least a year to elapse between each attempt to maximize our chances of success so we do occasionally skip a year, but for the most part our clan magic and the skills of our questers are sufficient to provide a reasonable chance of success most of the time.

Among the heroquests we complete are Ernalda Feeds the Tribe in which the Earth Mother has to travel to the underworld to collect her lost relatives in order to stave off starvation for the Storm Tribe. For this heroquest, we ask for and receive a magical treasure, in this case, a clay cow that magically creates cows for us if our cow herds ever become too small. We also complete the Uralda’s Blessing heroquest again, with added secrets from the Varmandi clan when they join our tribe.

In 1350, we learn that Thadart’s wife has given birth a second time and this child once again resembles a Tusk Raider, indicating that our earlier ritual failed. The tula is dismayed by this news and it does not appear that there is anything that can be done. Fortunately our recent spate of successes in performing heroquests has so elevated the mood of the entire clan and this bit of bad news is insignificant. It is worth noting however that as we have continually expanded our temples to take advantage of many blessings as possible, our wealth has diminished and the upkeep of these larger temples have become a matter of great concern.

That same year, our exploration teams which have been ranging farther and farther away, reach Mount Kero Fin, a mountain considered by some to be sacred. There they meet wind spirits who claim kinship with Orlanth. In exchange for sacrifices, some of these spirits agree to come and reside in a shrine in our tula, providing us with special wind blessings that surely no other clan in Dragon Pass possesses.

Later, we complete the very difficult Issaries the Conciliator heroquests which involves mediating a feud between the Long Noses and the Big Teeth. This should improve our relationships with all of the other clans. But it was possible only because our Issaries follower Lismelder is very skilled and completing the heroquest still ends up wounding her severely when the Big Teeth attempt to eat her at the end of the quest.

Finally near the end of 1350, our new tribe faces its first challenge when we learn of a rise in banditry in the lands between our clans. This disrupts trade and upsets everyone. Fortunately we are able to organize warriors of the different clans to patrol these lands and the bandits are no match for us. We kill or drive away all of the bandits and the entire tribe is pleased by our leadership.
